WinTAK 5.5 Released

WinTAK 5.5 has been released by the TAK Product Center, and as of 8/27/25 is now available on our downloads page under the WinTAK section. WinTAK is in long-term sustainment, so there are not many notable new features in this version, but a few user interface elements have been improved and several bugs have been fixed. The new features in this version are listed below:

Added user preference for default clamp-to-ground setting for shapes. Default value is false.

Shape vertices in edit mode now have a radial menu with fine adjust and coordinate entry options.

Added ability to support Vehicle Block Models.

Add ability to disable chat quick response buttons.

Route elevation profile now uses altitude unit preference.

WinTAK will automatically use software rendering for the map view if hardware rendering fails to initialize. WinTAK will display an alert if this happens.

Video Player Support for AV1 Codec (RTSP negotiation of session with multicast/unicast/TCP delivery that can optionally include KLV).

Upgrade the World Magnetic Model from Standard Resolution 2020 to High Resolution 2025 now valid through 2029.
