Integrating UAVs into COTAK
-
I would like to get our Mavic 3T connected to COTAK. I have found information on how to get aTAK running on the UAV controller.
I believe that I need a server to stream the video but have not found good details on this. I have some Raspberry Pi 4s and 3s that I have used on past projects that might be able to do this. Looking for good instructions on how to do this.
Also may only have Android phone for internet when flying from a trailhead to stream the UAV data back to incident command and to teams in the field with internet via their phones. Looking for information on how to integrate this with the UAV controller and video server. Might want to also do streaming from a WiFi router at the UAV trailer for local users in range of the router.
I have done a lot of internet searches and have found parts but not full instructions. A phone conversation with someone who has done this or a pointer to instructions would be very helpful. I would be happy to document the process for others once it is working.

@Ben-Lawrence Can you comment on this?

Hi Bill,
We are in the final stages of development for enabling a one-click user-created video server to work with UAS Tool. We were just using it last week so we know that it functions properly but needs to be a little more user friendly. The process would be something like logging into our website, click create video server, copy down the url and enter that into the video destination field in UAS Tool, and then enable broadcast on UAS Tool.Perhaps you could be one of our beta testers. Our developer has some leave planned but we expect within a month that it'll be ready to beta. We've got a bunch of development work going on so if we happen to lose track please feel free to make another request. As a frequent user of UAS Tool myself I'm very pleased with the ease of use even in it's early stages.

Ben,
Sounds like you have a user friendly solution in the works. I am in no hurry to get up and running. I would be happy to be a beta tester. Beta tested many an avionics unit during my career. I am retired and have the time to do the testing when I am not out enjoying the outdoors and rescuing those having a bad day out there. The team currently has a Mavic 3T and Mavic 2 Enterprise. I am working on grants for a Matrice 30T. We are retiring our Matrice 210s. -
There is a notice from the UAS Tool Developers on TAK.gov under the UAS Tool plugin information. It looks like the 3T isn't yet supported. We've been testing the video server with the Mavic 2 Enterprise and it works great. We have an Autel max 4 T we'd like to use but it isn't supported either.

I should add that the program manager of UAS Tool told me that the 30T is supported but I don't have a way to confirm
