Winter Storm Response with COTAK

When winter storms lead to complex requests for public safety assistance, COTAK can be used to improve the situational awareness of personnel and coordinate among multiple responding agencies. Responders can use county-level mutual aid channels in the TAK apps, or public safety agencies from across the state—including CDOT personnel who are currently adopting COTAK—can collaborate during winter storm responses affecting roadways on the CO Highway MAC channel.
The CO Highway MAC channel includes an automated data feed from the CDOT COTRIP system for traffic incidents impacting state highways and interstates. Map markers will display in TAK for closures, crashes, roadwork, and chain/traction law zones when the channel is turned on. This channel is available to all COTAK users with responder types of Fire, Law Enforcement, Road & Bridge, Emergency Management, Ambulance/EMS, or Comm/Dispatch Center.
